Welcome to GMÜND in the Waldviertel!
Swamps, ponds, Wackelsteine (huge wobbling stones) and nature parks characterise the upper Waldveirtel. The district and border town Gmünd is harmonically embedded into the landscape. City centre and the nature park Blockheide, which is situated directly behind the town, invite you to go for relaxing walks. Here you can find, apart from numerous granite blocks full of old myths and legends, the well-known Wackelsteine (wobbling stones), which have become quite well-known in Austria.
